Pakefield

Pakefield is situated on the East Coast one mile south of Lowestoft. The church is dedicated to St Margaret and All Saints and dates back to the fourteenth century. It was once two churches in one with two rectors and two parishes until 1748. The church suffered significant bomb damage during the Second World War. The parish registers which date back to 1678 is in places badly affected by water damage. This damage occurred when the church was bombed on 21st April, 1941.

Early Baxters

Although there are references to Baxters in the parish registers marrying in Pakefield and a handful of their children are baptized no family settled in Pakefield until the nineteenth century.
